Intelligent DNA Probes
 has introduced a completely new concept for DNA identification. The patented intelligent DNA-probes can be used for DNA characterization and localization as well as product authentization.
The
GenePin is a highly selective and sensitive tool, which has been
developed for homogeneous DNA assays. The GenePin is a specially
synthesized oligonucleotide, labeled with a fluorescent dye. The GenePin only
fluoresces after hybridization of the oligonucleotide with the
target DNA.
As
soon as the target DNA is recognized, the GenePin changes its properties
from being almost non-fluorescent to fluorescent. As a result
DNA strands of 15-20 bases can be recognized and identified without the need to remove unhybridized oligonucleotides.
